SEASON WRAP UP: The entire DYSC IN-House Academy staff thanks all of you for your participation.  We achieved our goals of providing high quality soccer experience during the winter.  All the children have improved dramatically from where we were on week 1.   The mix of technical training from dribbling to passing/receiving to combination play, plus the small sided scrimmage play, showed the players the basic progression of training.  Over the course of a single set of sessions it is impossible to cover all aspects of the game, so our focus was to develop each player’s ability to control the ball and by doing so give them more confidence when in-house starts to be more creative.  It is impossible to look to be creative or learn to play tactical soccer, if at the core of your personal technical abilities is a lack of confidence to control the ball or have the ball at your feet.

So, this was the ‘Winter’ academy, which means winter did get in the way for having all 8 sessions.  Our plan is to invite this group to an outdoor session when the weather breaks so we can have more space to set up more scrimmages.  We will send out an email notifying you in advance of the makeup date and we will try to stick with Tuesday at 6 pm.

Regards,

DYSC Academy Staff

Mid season Update Email: I spoke about how we anticipated a variety of players with significantly different skill sets and we did see that right away.  Our general plan is to progress from dribbling and individual ball handling skills, which we have been doing for three weeks, to passing/receiving and then end with combination play.  You may have noticed we set up for scrimmage last week and we will continue to do this for the balance of the sessions, since the game is 'the best teacher' and it gives the players an opportunity to demonstrate lessons plans skills in a realistic environment.  Collectively, the staff has seen initial understanding and improvement and we hope to continue that success over the next 5 sessions.  We understand the players cannot practice these skills on their own until they can get outside, but what they are being taught should carry over into the Spring season. regards, DYSC Academy Staff
